Dr. Toh Choon Lai is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. His sub-specialty in orthopaedic trauma, trauma reconstruction, joint replacement surgery, fracture treatment, sports injury and arthroscopy. His expertise includes minimally invasive fracture fixation and trauma reconstruction, “key hole” sports related surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery, upper extremity reconstruction and Ilizarov surgery.

Dr Toh came to Singapore after being awarded the Singapore Public Service Commission ASEAN Scholarship. He graduated with a Medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He went on to obtain the Master of Medicine (NUS), Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in Orthopaedic Surgery.

He also received additional sub-speciality training in orthopaedic trauma and reconstruction in the USA, where he was appointed a fellow in at the world-renowned Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston (USA).

Prior to private practice, Dr Toh was Acting Head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He was also Director of the Hip Fracture Program in TTSH and a member of the TTSH Medical Board.

​

​In private practice, Dr Toh has served as Chairman of the Orthopaedic Surgery Speciality Group at Mount Elizabeth Hospital (MEH), Chairman of the Operating Theatre Committee (MEH) and as an elected member of the Medical Advisory Board (MEH). He also volunteers his time assisting the Ministry of Health Singapore in various roles. He has lectured regularly in the region to fellow orthopaedic surgeons and members of the public. He was also the Vice President of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) and remain an active council member of the SMA.

 

​Dr Toh’s main practice is located at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre (Orchard) and Mount Elizabeth Novena Medical Centre and is accredited to practice in all major private hospitals in Singapore.
