DR. CHUA WEI LIANG

Profile

Dr Chua Wei Liang is a Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with Orthopaedic Associates.

​

He favours a patient centric and practical approach when it comes to looking after his patients, with a focus on rapid recovery and optimising post-surgical pain.

He understands the value of honest and reliable medical opinions.

​

Prior to joining Orthopaedic Associates, Dr Chua held key leadership roles, including Head of Hip and Knee Surgery at National University Hospital (NUH) and Alexandra Hospital, as well as Deputy Head of Department at Alexandra Hospital.

​

Dr Chua obtained his medical degree from University College London in 2006 and earned his Masters of Medicine from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2015. He completed the NUHS Orthopaedic Residency in 2017 and was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in the same year.

​

He is fellowship trained, having completed 2 overseas fellowships in Orthopaedic Surgery. Firstly, an AO Trauma Travelling Fellowship in E Da Hospital, Taiwan in 2017. Followed by a fellowship in hip and knee surgery at Wrightington Hospital, UK- a major joint replacement centre of excellence in the United Kingdom.​

His areas of expertise include:

  • Hip and knee joint replacement

    • Partial knee replacement

    • Navigated or robotic joint replacement

    • Anterior and posterior approach total hip replacement

  • Meniscus and ligament surgeries of the knee

  • Fracture surgeries of the lower limb

 

Beyond clinical practice, Dr Chua is actively involved in postgraduate orthopaedic teaching and examinations at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He lectures regularly on general orthopaedics and hip and knee pathologies.

Outside of work, Dr Chua enjoys woodworking, eating (healthy) and staying active through regular exercise.
